INFORMATION on THE EUROPEAN ACADEMY of FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY  

The European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (formerly known as The Joseph Society and as the European Academy of Facial Surgery) was founded in 1977. Its objectives are to stimulate training, research and scientific advancement in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Membership is drawn from all interested specialities with expertise in facial surgery both within Europe and further afield. The official language of the Academy is English.
The Academy has been involved with the European Community in identifying Facial Plastic Surgery as a discrete entity and is active in promoting appropriate training schemes for trainees in the specialty of facial plastic surgery.
The Academy aims to stimulate a high standard of facial plastic surgery within Europe through a certification process. There are now over 600 members and membership continues to grow.

INFORMATION on FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY SOCIETY of TURKEY

Facial Plastic Surgery Society of Turkey has been founded in 2006 with the aim of spreading education, supporting researches & researchers, organizing scientific meetings and for the outcome of providing quality service for patients within Turkey.

How to reach Antalya and Congress Venue
Antalya airport is at 10 km East of the city centre, and has direct flights from a number of countries. It is well connected to other parts of Turkey and there are frequent domestic flights to / from Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. As Antalya is the major touristic town in Turkey, there are many charter flights to/from neighbouring countries organized by private companies during the holiday season.

Airport Transfers
It takes 30 minutes to get from Antalya Airport to the congress venue.  The easiest way is to take a taxi at a cost arround 40 Euros. However, regular transfer service can be obtained from the Congress Organizing Secretariat. Those  are private minivans only used for congress participants.  Please indicate your airport transfer request while filling in the hotel reservation form online at the congress web  site. Airport transfers should be ordered and paid in advance.

Invitation Letter
Individuals requiring an official letter of invitation in order to attend the congress can write to the Organising Secretariat. This procedure is designated to assist participants to obtain a visa or permission to attend the meeting and does not apply to registration fees or other expenses.

Banking and Exchange Facilities
Foreign money can be changed at banks during normal business days (09.00-17.00 Monday-Friday) as well as at hotels, at the airport and in exchange offices. Exchange rates are set daily by the Central Bank. All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Automated bank machines are available at many points throughout the city and at the airport.

Climate and Clothing
Daytime temperatures are in the range of 22-28°C and evening temperatures are 18-24°C. We recommend you to bring light clothes.

Currency
The Turkish currency is Turkish Lira.
The exchange rate for Turkish Lira as of September 2009 is: USD 1 = TRL 1,55 & EURO = 2,17 TRL

Electricity
The electrical power supply in Turkey is 220 volts.

Language
The official language of the congress is English.

Shopping
One of the most enjoyable parts of a trip to Turkey is shopping for the rich variety of Turkish crafts. Turkish carpets, kilims, suede and leatherwear as well as other items of clothing are the best buys. Copper, silver, brassware and jewellery are also choices for buying, along with works of ceramics and the famous Turkish meerschaum.

Turkey is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Tipping
Although service charge is included in most restaurants, leaving a tip at one's own discretion is appreciated.

Visa Requirements
Participants are requested to check with the Turkish Consulate in their home country or with their travel agency or at www.mfa.gov.tr for visa requirements. Entry visa to Turkey can also be obtained at Antalya Airport for a number of countries.
